The Rainbow Families Community

There are many ways to be a part of the Rainbow Families community - email contact, playgroups, events and volunteering.

RBFoPS Email List

The email list is one of the best ways to keep up with event information, local happenings and resources. Most of our members subscribe to the list and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.

In addition to event announcements here are some topics you might see on the list:

  • Recommendations for GLBT friendly pediatricians or other service providers

  • Discussing different families with young children

  • Local neighborhood get-together announcements
    •  
  • Getting GLBT positive books and topics into your school's curriculum
    •  
  • Dealing with homophobic comments from school peers
    •  
  • Baby clothes sales, nanny wanted, vacation recommendations, etc.

Area Playgroups

  • Wallingford: Mondays 10:00 - noon at Family Works. An indoor playspace best for new walkers, crawlers and infants. Family Works is located at 1501 North 45th Street, on the southeast corner of North 45th and Woodlawn Ave North. Free. Directions 
  • Capitol Hill: Tuesdays 10:00 - noon. Ages birth to five. In the summer months at the Volunteer Park Wading Pool and Playground. In the fall through spring the playgroup goes inside to Miller Community Center, at 330 19th Avenue East on Capitol Hill - a large gym placespace with an outside playground. Miller CC charges $2 per child.
  • North End : Wednesday 10:30-12:30 at alternating private homes or parks. For more info contact Deanna.
  • Eastside: Crossroads Community Center (16000 NE 10th ST, Bellevue) has a Parent/Child Drop-In Playgroup offered Monday-Friday from 9:15-11:30am, cost is $2.50 resident/ $3.00 non-resident. Ages 0-5, we do not charge for infants under 1 year. No summer program.  Please call 425-452-4874 for more information.

Volunteering

There is always a need for help at events with set up, break down, food and table staffing. Please contact us if you can help!
