About Rainbow Families

We have found that our children gain a great deal by having a regular opportunity to see other families that look like their own and to have a chance to make friends with other kids from these families. At Rainbow Families we hope to provide opportunities for reflection and connection in the context of fun family outings. We hope that children and their parents will benefit from this regular affirmation of their families.

Over 200 families from all around the Puget Sound area are members. Couples, single parents and those considering parenting, and kids from infants to teens make up our membership.

Rainbow Families of Puget Sound is non-profit all-volunteer organization. We are run by a small steering committee with input and volunteer help from other members. We have 501c(3) status as a project of Gay Community Social Services and so all contributions are tax deductible.

Memberships help support our programs and enable us to offer a variety of events. Yearly family memberships are available for the suggested donation of $20. For more information on joining Rainbow Families, contact us.

Steering Committee

All members are encouraged to attend steering committee meetings and bring your ideas and energy. Members are self-nominated and responsibilities and tasks include:

  • organizing monthly activities
  • organizing and staffing KidSpace at PRIDE
  • managing budget
  • staffing information tables at local events
  • managing member database
  • managing list-serve
